Looking great! Glad you were finally able to start the demo! You were being very patient there but making sure to do everything right is obvious that you needed to be sure the house was safe! I'm excited to see your build. You sketch plan looks awesome.

I am typically not a patient man, but one reason I so love this hobby is that it forces me to be. :) As the saying goes "Nothing good happens fast in reefing." Thanks for the encouragement.

Roof repair turned into a nightmare yesterday. A simple strip and torch down turned into replacing 22 sheets of plywood. They used 1/4" paneling for the roof and it was rotted to splinters. Barely got done and plastic down by the time the rain came. Temporary problem is getting resolved, peace of mind is at stake here for the new reef room and viewing area. lol

Today forcast looks good so we take up plastic, put a couple more sheets down and lay felt and primer. Tomorrow we can torch down the new stuff. Which should go quickly.

The joists look wet, but that is copper seal to prevent decay.

    Quick update...

We finished the roof last night so barring anymore unforseen calamities we can get back inside working on the build. :)

Also, received an email from fosters & smith and they informed me that the lights I ordered were back-logged even further out, so I asked them to cancel the order and I will be returning the one fixture I did receive. Last night I purchased 3 Reef Breeders Photon16's which should give me a par of around 300 on the sand bed.

Reveived my 240 pounds of sand yesterday and I believe my 180 pounds of live rock should show up today. Also received my Sicce .5 pump to feed my refugium. Still about 2-3 weeks out on the sump/fuge build from Melev.

    :)

Looks like that roof was some sort of room addition/patio enclosure?

I don't envy you at all on this one- the roof that is!

Keep up the good work on your DT/system build!

    Thanks.

Yup, it used to be the patio, but they framed in the new rooms right over the concrete (which is nice to not have to worry about what my tank is sitting on). ;)

Just very, very glad to be getting back on track after that short distraction. :)

Ok, roof is put to bed, so now back to tank build design. Here is a preliminary sketch I created for the tank stand and wall interface.

I will utilize 6" x 6" notched legs for the joists to sit on. The joists will be 2" x 8", this will still leave me plenty of space below for my sump/fuge and plumbing.

Great job and progress on the build. Like the sketchup you did also.

    Nice plans!
(man, I gotta lean to use sketchup some time!)

also... I noticed you have one True Temp Titanium 800w Heater listed...
Have you considered getting two for the sake of redundency?
You could maybe go lower wattage if you're utilizing two??

The heater is (often) a major failure point in the system.

I didn't notice if a tank controller was on your earlier list...
I don't have one, I just use a digital thermometer with high/low temp with alarms, and a glass thermometer to verify that against every now and then.
