    QT Stuff

The items for my QT tank have arrived today. :)

Mr. Aqua Rimless Glass 33g QT (25x18x18 )
    600 gph PH
    T5 Light Fixture

75 Watt Heater (for SW mix tub)

So exited to get this stuff today!

With the support beam in the next week will be spent building the display wall and the stand. We do have some plumbing to sort out which could slow us down a little, but hopefully not too much.

Floors and Walls, coming right up!

The floor is going in on half the room. The joists for the reef room will be running the other direction for plumbing sake. The wall will start to go up tomorrow and work on the tank stand should begin on Wednesday! :)

I'm really getting bored with my construction updates lol, but the good news is ... I purchased the lumber for my stand last night! I'm picking up one more piece of lumber today. Stand construction should commence within the next 2 days! Then we build the floor around it. :) Hopefully more pics to put up tonight.

(oh, and the "actual" tank build should start within 2 weeks give or tank) Fingers crossed!

looks like it is all coming together nicely. Having just done something simmilar to what you are doing, I now the construction part can be annoying....but once the walls go up, and you get working on the tank, it goes fast, and it becomes fun again! Keep the updates coming, and keep up the good work!

Thanks, guys. Seeing the front part of stand in place gives me a better vision of what's to come and gets me pumped up again. :)

So the front of the stand, is also the wall studs?

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Yup, it is a non load bearing wall, so the front of the stand will be built right into the wall. We will cap the top of that with a 4x6 to transfer the tank load evenly to the 4x4's at the corner of the tank. The rear of the stand will be held up with 6x6's and a 4x6 beam across the top. The reason for this is, the weight of the raised floor will be transfered to the 6x6's as well. Which is fine, because they are rated for over 13 tons each for vertical load. :) The sides of the stand will also have have studs and a ledger for the floor joists. We will have a removable access panel on the floor so I can get down to the sump. The DT deck will be 1-1/8 plywood with 2x6 joists running between the support beams. We will also use 1/2" plywood on the wall under the drywall for shear strength. We live in an earthquake prone area and without shear strength I worry that if the wall cantilevers the wall framing can hit the tank edge causing failure. Probably not a worry, but the wall will not lean during an earthquake. :)

    Guess what I found...

Came home from work to a nice surprise. :) 150 pounds of base rock, the filter and heater for my QT tank and the 600 gph korelia PH for my salt mixing container. :)

I have some plumbing photos to upload tonight as well. ;D

Correction, this is the 425 for my QT tank. I already had the 600 gph ph. :)
