Thanks for the pellet advice and the sympathy. lol Good news is, Marc says he is going to start work on my new sump on Monday. Hopefully the claim won't take too long. :(

    :(

Came home from the weekend camping trip to find that my Six-line Wrasse had given up the fight. I am sad for the loss, he had a good personality. Now to determine the cause. I'll test the parameters and report them, but I'm thinking the cupramine did him in, even though the carbon was scrubbing it. Small diatom bloom to report. Brown, icky and covering the bottom pretty well. Could be a result of the autofeeder overfeeding a bit.

Other fish seem uneffected by these events.

    Thanks guys. :(

Here are the parameters and me resulting steps taken.

    1.0265 sg
    78*
    0 amm
    .018 trites
    .5 trates
    11.7 alk
    8.2 ph
    .13 cupramine

Nitrites seem awfully low to have killed my Six-line, so I'm guess he was the cause of the spike and not the victim. Likely died sometime on Saturday and small ammonia spike was formed and my nitrites ate them up and now my raised nitrates are finishing the job. Everyone ate great tonight. I also did a 15 percent water change with 1.024 sg water and my over all sg is now back to 1.026.

Here is a photo of my brown algae bloom. It looks as if my pygmy angel has been dining on the pvc tube algae.

Happens to the best of us!

Now just a thought: I know with chelated copper you do not want any rocks in the tank as the copper ions can complex with the carbonates in the rock and cause copper to precipitate out. I am not sure if it is the same with Cupramine or not. I know it is made to resist this, but you may want to confirm this with another, more experienced member.

I heard something to that affect, but I am looking for increased surface area for bacteria growth. I'll look into that and see what I can find. Thanks.

EDIT: Found some info at Seachem and on a discussion board. Cupramine absorption into base rock is minimal. This chunk of rock is dedicated to the QT so it will never get into my DT to leech copper into, I think all will be ok. With my carbon it is very low now and probably even lower after the water change i did. I will keep testing though and if I need to I will get some Cuprisorb.
