Thanks Marty You thought this build through every detail. It made me look at mine and I just had to make it a little better LOL! It definitely needed it.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it.

Makes me feel like the months of planning and work paid off. Sometimes I would get discouraged during the process, but I'm glad we kept going.

We looked at a lot of build threads along the way and learned some awesome things from everyone.

Well I came home from a business trip on Friday to find a catastrophic event in my tank. I've spent the weekend trying to figure out what happened with no luck. Sometime Thursday night we lost a powder blue tang, a blue sapphire damsel and 3 bangghai cardinal fish. Parameters all checked out Friday when I got home, but I did an emergency water change anyway. So my 7 chromises are fine, my diamond goby is fine, sand sifting star and other inverts are all unaffected. The only thing I see happening is the red slime algae and hair algae are starting to come loose and float around. My wife said it started on Tuesday so she started netting the loose parts out. I am devastated right now. I did get my gfo and carbon reactors running yesterday to see if they can do any good. Now I am watching and waiting. I have more water change water brewing now just in case. No idea what went wrong. :(

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Boy Marty I am so sorry.

Maybe it's time to get some ORP measurements on the tank, especially at night.

So sorry for your losses Marty :( that's so disheartening when an event like that happens. Sounds like Corailline has some good advice.

Thanks. :( Guess I've got more reading to do, haven't looked into ORP at all to be honest.

    Google here I come. :)

EDIT: Just found a link you had posted :) http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-12/rhf/feature/index.php

So sorry to hear that Marty. Any loss can be devastating, never mind 5 at once :( Keep your head up though.

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to do my best to get to the bottom of this. ORP may be a good thing to check, as Corailline stated. I'm looking into some probes. :( I'll do a follow up if I figure something out.

    Thanks again for the support.
