Just trying to help with something that some people claim works, but doesn't as well as some claim. It is a possible fail point and may cause some serious problems down the road. Honestly, I couldn't care less if you take any of the people's advice who mentioned silicone does not adhere to plexiglass well. Do what you want. If it fails you will have a huge mess on your hands depending on which baffle fails.

Bonding Acrylic to Glass? - Aquarium Advice - Aquarium Forum Community

For every person saying it works there is someone saying it doesn't. You can post as many success as you want, but there will also be people posting about failures. If you want to risk it go for it. All i know is, I'd rather spend the extra time and money building something I am 100% sure that it won't fall apart over time.

I used a glass tank and acrylic baffles 3 years ago and have not had a problem. In fact I had to remove one of the baffles in my sump to accomodate a larger skimmer than I was currently using and I had a very hard time getting the two apart. I think it depends on the thickness of the acrylic you use and how well you silicone it it in. I used 1/4" thick acrylic so it wouldnt flex and then made sure I siliconed it well.
I still dont understand why it is said not to work. Silicone will bond to acrylic and silicone will bond to glass and if you do the job properly and use enough silicone and thick enough acrylic you shouldnt have an issue. Oh and I am 100% sure mine will not come apart. I tried to move the baffles after I built the sump and they were solid, I also as stated earlier tried to remove a baffle and it took almost an hour to get it out.
