Over the past few days, I've noticed that my filefish hasn't been eating as much as it used to. Some days it eats more than others, but it's pretty infrequent. However, yesterday I noticed that it only eats mysis/brine that are NOT clear or white. It only goes after the brownish ones.

So now I know I have a very picky eater on my hands.. But is there anything I can do to get him to go for all mysis/brine? Or maybe somehow make the shrimp brown?

have you tried to use anything like selcon or garlic on your food to entice him? Do you feed anything else? My filefish eats dry, flakes, rod's, it seems to enjoy variety....

My fish don't go for flakes (yet). And no, I haven't tried either of those. What kind of garlic would I add to the food? I'm assuming there's something specifically for tanks.

there is garlic you can buy specifically for fish food but in the mean time to try it out, you can mince a garlic clove and add it into the food you have. Let the food soak in the juice and then add. I know a lot of people say selcon is awesome but I've not found it available locally at my LFS that I frequent.

It (sort of) worked! I put a piece of garlic in a bit of tank water and let it sit for a few hours. Removed the garlic, added the shrimp, and waited another 30 mins! It made most of the shrimp turn brown, so my filefish ate a lot more than usually (usually there's only a few brown mysis/brine in a feeding). However, he still didn't go for the whitish ones :/ I'll have to try selcon, because I can't keep using garlic just to suit his picky eating habit
