I think you can...I have javas in mine which grow well and elodea in my other one.

 

cool! i wonder if these LEDs could grow plants.... its 6 watts....... maybe i should pick up a cheap java fern and find out! how do i plant? lol I've never had a planted tank before.

 

Very nice. Java Fern does well in low light so it should do fine in your tank. Do not put the rhizome in the gravel or it will rot away. The root like growths are fine in the gravel.

Anubias would be another good plant to go with. Plant it the same way as the Java Fern.

 

thanks! i think ill go with a plant from petco thats in one of those plastic things(I've had bad experiences with snails). so to plant just push the roots into the gravel?

 

Yes, good luck and make sure the plant you get is aquatic. Most of those plants are terrestrial.
