Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

Just in case you guys were wondering, I've been doing a 10% pwc every two weeks and everything stays great.

As long as trates are low and corals are well there's no reason to do a pwc! But you SHOULD do one atleast
every month to replenish trace elements that you can't test for.

Says who..... That's extremely debatable. I know of a ton of people who do one every 6 months or so with no ill effects.

All trace elements, there amounts, and there useage is debatable. We just simply don't know. But monthly isn't necessary. Most people in my reef club that are running algae scrubbers do about 2 a year and we are all doing that just because of myths and rumors. Ionic imbalances and exporting heavy metals brought in by food is a much more real concern but you only have to account for those on a very rare basis.

TL ; DR - there is no proof you need monthly water changes for trace elements.

Your right it is debatable, but why risk it if you know I helps? Also, can you explain the basics of a scrubber please?

Money. I spend a retarded amount on salt. When you are talking a 29g you are right, no big deal. But with a reef that takes 29g just to do a 10% pwc... it gets pricey and skipping a water change becomes a great way to afford more coral/fish!! Also, over 15 years of keeping assorted tanks tells me it's really no big deal.

^My thread on my algae scrubber. There are a ton of threads on them here and RC.

Thanks for your input grim. I like your view on this subject. I might have to try it out. My trates hover at 5 and Lps Ioves it. If it stays at 5 I might try going a while pwc-less.
