Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

    I tried it and it didn't work. Not enough. But I did switch around a fan, now one blows in and one blows out!

    A few skimmer questions...

    1. How do I "break in" my skimmer?

    2. How long will it take the skimmer to lower my nitrates and show a significant change in algae?

    As for breaking in the skimmer, most come with directions on how to do that. I know my BakPak said to rinse it out with warm - hot water and then run it. Microbubbles usually disappear after a week or so.

    Cool! It's used, does it still need to be broken in? And I won't worry about bubbles. The water goes through filter floss, purigen, under a baffle, through chaeto, under a baffle and THEN goes into the tank.;)

    I don't think you will need to break it in. It might just take a a day or so to start producing good skimmate is all.
