just saw this thread - you're off to a great start! the tanks looking nice, i really like the scape and the little zoa island. congrats on all the progress can't wait to see it coming along

 

Thank you. I can't wait to start the cycle!!! We've decide Thursday would be the best day. It's been 4 months of constant research and planning and I'm almost there!

 

the cycle is kind of like Nickelback playing halftime of a football game. the boring part between the two fun parts lol (building it and filling it with life!)

I think I'm going to look into an rodi. Has anyone used this one? It'd be nice not to have to pay for water.

Important question, should I run the sump and powerheads when I add water? I wondering because the sand will probably be everywhere.

 

I've never heard of them, but that doesn't mean anything lol.

I would put something on the bottom to pour the water on/into in order to keep the "sandstorm" as minimal as possible. If you don't run your sump, then you won't get the sand in your sump from your DT. You would probably be fine running your power heads though.
