Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

It definitly would not appeal to me having ich in the tank..forever. Id rather qt and have a better chance of it being gone, but whatever.

Yeah, ideally if you QT your fish for 6 weeks before introduction into the DT, and ya Qt your inverts, and macro algae, and LR, for 6 weeks and treat each accordingly, then absolutely QTing is the best option. But once the fish is in the DT, and it has Ich, unless you pull all your fish out and QT them, and leave the DT fish less for 8 weeks, then its in your tank. Pulling the fish once in DT only stresses him and the rest of the fish out, thus leading to a bigger problem. IMO

I see. By the time the infected fish shows signs in the DT its already late then.

I just dont see why all fish dont show signs even if they are healthy. In FW healthy fish can be prone to ich. I know the types are different, but still

Some fish are more prone to it than others due to slime layer or scale size. Thats why tangs are prone to it and mandarins aren't.

Exactly. And when the slime layer goes away, it stresses the fish, leaving it vulnerable to ich. That's why my other fish arent at risk, because they aren't stressed.

Is it normal for me to have to empty the skimmer cup every 12 hours?

Also, when I get t5s I plan to acclimate like this: run the lights for 4 hours the first week, 5 the next, 6 the next, 7, 8, 9, then ten.

Ive never had a skimmer...no idea

For the lights i just put several layers of mesh under it, taking away a layer every couple days. Doing it the other way *could* burn the corals. It isnt a huge upgrade in lighting, but its pretty significant.

If you lay in the sun for 4 hrs as apposed to 8, you will still be burned. Heard that from carey on AA when i asked the same question and it makes sense
