Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

I think I've had good results from the SPS. I have about 1/4 - 3/8" growth per month depending on the coral. My orange monti always gains about 1/2" in diameter.

The problem with the 40* is that is is too intense, even in 18" of water. I can hardly have SPS under it on the sand bed. I have to put it left or right to the main light source. Though I have an aussie acan near it that has gained 3 new eyes in 2 months.

Yes, you are adding 20* to the total output of the light making for a wider area of coverage.

yeah the wider the optic the wider the spread but the less penetration ou will get! Its a give and take.

Yup, yup. A wider degree optic makes for a wider area of light spread/coverage.

I agree; it is definitely give-and-take. I took a long time debating on which optics I wanted. So I got the wider optics for my two islands, and the narrower one for the middle of the tank so that I would get decent par at the sandbed. I haven't measure it at all, but I think it would be interesting to see what the par levels I get down there. It's pretty intense.

I think 2 would be fine for your tank.
