Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

    Why would salinity drop?

It's going to get higher as water evaporates.

Because I'll be adding fresh RODI water to it until it overflows into the sump and such. I'll add salt directly to the tank after adding the RODI.

Why not just add the salt now since you are just going to add it straight to your DT? That way it would give it more time to dissolve. I would suggest taking some RO/DI water and putting it in a bucket and mixing it like that instead of adding it directly to your tank. It will take longer for the salt to dissolve in your tank than it would mixing it yourself.

    Oh yeah. Good idea.

Edit: Either way will work. :)

Oh and I've found that letting the water per update down the rocks is perfect. Thank seano!

Random question: once the tank is going with 3 fish in it, would I be able to add another clown to the existing one if it was small?

Oh so maybe leave room for 3 gallons of water and make like a salt concentrate with a SG of like 1.040? I cant mix it in the tank now because the water level will be too low to run powerheads and I have them where I want.

    Two part answer here:

If you have a clown and want to add another, to make them a pair, make sure the second clown is the larger one. if not, the large (or first) one will become aggressive/territorial toward the other.

I would not out 4 fish in a 29. Clowns will get 3.5" long. If/when you add any new fish, add it with it's mature adult size in mind. Don't get it just because it is little at the time of adding it.

So you think 3 fish is more appropriate? Why so?

Don't worry about what the SG is in the bucket of water. Mix enough salt in your water for the total volume that you will have. You could leave a cup or two to make sure the SG isn't to high to start with. I know that with IO, they recommend 1 cup per gallon of water. So for 29 gallons, you would need 29 cups. I would mix 29 cups in the 3 gallons of water to completely dissolve it before adding it to your tank. I would never do this if there were live critters in there though.

Of course. My salt(coralife) says 1/2 cup per gallon so I guess I'll add about 12 cups since the volume of water will probably be around 25g.
