Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

Your pump should be fine for mixing salt. I used a rio 200 for a while. Then I switched over to an old skimmer pump so I can mix more salt, faster.

Cool beans. Salt is in!!!! Sadly the water has been agitate and is now cloudy. I plan to run the pumps and filter tonight. Thursday I'll start the heater(that's when my thermometer arrives) and tomorrow I'll add shrimp:) should I be worried about sand screwing with the impellers?

Hey seano, I was wondering why you think I should keep it at 3 fish?

Mainly, it will keep your bioload at a level which will be easy for your skimmer and/oer other filtration to keep up with. But also for looks.

When it comes to livestock, I think many tanks seem to look overcrowded. Even though all the fish in a tank may be within what most would consider the "minimum (safe) tank size" they still look too big in proportion to the tank. For example...a tang (most reaching 1 foot or more) is considered by most ok to have in a 180g tank. That's still only 6x its size. So it swims back and forth all day. While I won't argue with anyone who does it, it just doesn't even look realistic, and I won't ever have one until I have a tank large enough to dwarf the size of the fish. Does that make more sense?

In my 29g my main fish will be two yellow stripe clingfish. They reach a full length of 2". I will get some other kind pf goby, possibly 2. But the kind I am looking at will only get 1" long as adults. These smaller fish generally have a much smaller bioload addition to a tank as well.

i agree, i hate the crowded look. the reason i see my 4 fish stock list as OK is because the goby and gramma take up almost no swim space. they don't really swim. the only two active fish are the angel and clown. i think i have the swim-room-overcrowded thing taken care of. as for filtration, i have no idea. do you think thats too much of a bioload? they'll be added one fish every 3 weeks.

my pistol shrimp + hi fin red stripped goby are my favorite things to watch in my tank.

both do not get any bigger than 2" full grown, and they are the funnest to watch feed each other, dig holes, play with the sand. in the future i want a tank full of pistols and gobys on the sand bed

Alright so the water was only a little cloudy when I left for school today. All of the water is in and the ATO is almost set up. All I need to do is raise my salinity and add the shrimp!:D
