    Is the purigen I'm running counterproductive...? It's supposed to take away ammonia and trites right?

    I would not run any additives which will remove Amm., No2 or No3 during the cycle, as this will interfere with it occurring normally. I would let it run its course. once you have had the initial cycle, you can run Purigen or the like to help keep down the nitrates and phosphates.

    It should be good later if you take it out. You are able to recharge Purigen I believe.
