Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

Thats the risk with HOB, syphon over flows. I havnt had a power outage at all since my tanks been running. but in florida all it takes is a 1 hurricane and im DONE. ive had power out for as long as 2 weeks, but usually dont lose it often. Perks of living on the beach i guess...

I was going to make a little hob for my tank, but i just cant imagine the worst case scenario. and i ALWAYS plan for that. Some have no problems over a prolonged period. There are sensors you can buy in conjunction with controllers that will alert you, but thats more money...

Haha yeah money I don't have. And I don't want to drill the tank either. All it takes is a few minutes of no power and I'm done. I'd have to find a way to make a restarting overflow.

Another option would be a remote sump in my closet like my ATO. I could drill the sump and have it place higher that the DT. Pump water up to it and just have it gravity feed down. No worries about the pump running dry. I could have the bulkhead placed kind of high up in the sump so that if I lose power only a gallon or so drops into the DT so that it doesn't overflow.

Success!!!!! The 750 is in!!!! Now I've got some nice crazy flow without disturbing the sand bed! It's pointed at the rocks so that it doesn't bounce back and hit the glass and sand. Thanks do much norg!!!

Today's test results will be up in a bit.

    Yeah I'm loving it:)

Ok so I'm kinda upset because my API test kits seems to be just a good as test strips. My results make no sense at all compared to the salfert.

    Ammonia: .1
    Nitrite: either 2 or 5
    Nitrate: 20
pH: off the charts low. The color is like yellow. It's probably around 7.0

Heres what the salfert tests say(I saw with my own eyes)

    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrite: .25
    Nitrate: 100+
    pH: not sure.

Tomorrow I'll be going to the LFS to have them test all four. I will definatly be getting some better test kits. Ugh.
