Should i add a flame angel as my 4th and final fish?

  1. No, i wouldn't risk it with the corals.

  2. go for it! as long as you keep it fed it shouldn't be an issue.

Oh and whenever I get my fuge up, I'll be doing I mixture of chaeto and a couple mangrove stocks. Seeing as I'll only have two fish for quite some time, it should be easy keeping my levels at zero.

Should be fine - I have a red striped goby and a red banded pistol shrimp. The shrimp does most of the digging and moves any pieces of rock that are too big for him to kick out, he has a nice little collection building up and he keeps changing directions of his tunnel entrance, the goby was very shy at first but now is boisterous and only hides when my clown swoops down to grab food. they do very very well in my tank and I also have the fine grain sugar type sand

As to adding the clown fish with or even before the CuC, this can be done, I did it. I had a condy anemone and a occy clown first thing in my tank with 4 astreas and 8 ceriths, now I have 12 ceriths, 1 tronchus snail, 1 tiger cowrie snail, 4 nassi snails, and the original 4 astreas, as well as a skunk cleaner shrimp.

My CuC does a great great job, I could probably use about 5 more nassi's but algae in my DT is nonexistent.

You can add the clown first if you want, they are usually hardly especially if captive bred, but just be prepared to dealing with looking at ugly algae if you do not add the CuC first especially during your cycle

Cool thanks! So I guess it's a good idea to add a nice chunk of CUC with the clowns. Maybe 3 hermits and 3 nassis? If those aren't enough I'll add more as needed. Surprisingly my cycle is almost over and I haven't had much of an algae bloom. Knock on wood.:)

personally i chose to leave out hermits, yes they are common in reef tanks, but if you don't have enough for them to scavenge they have the potential to eat anything they get a taste for. i plan on putting some in my refugium after it's up and running, but i will need to provide many cerith shells

.. if you have a 29g biocube like i do, cleanupcrews.com suggests 1 nassi for every 3gallons or so? they suggested i get 12 but i only have 4, will probably get several more because they do a very very good job at stiring the sand bed, so does my fighting conch

Ahh ok cool. As for the hermits I'm hoping that If I only keep one or two that they'll have enough uneaten food/algae to munch on. I'm going to leave out most snails until I really need them. Just 2 hermits and 2 nassis for now.

Anyways, fish store today! Hopefully my ammonia and nitrites are zero do that I can do my 10% pwc!

Good news!!!! My parents will be paying for the clowns!!!!!:) that means that I'll be able to get the bulb and a frag whenever! How long should I wait until I add a frag?

My LFS is closed today so I'll be trying myself. Tomorrow I'll go back.

Question: can I grow mangroves without sand in my back chambers?
