Wow thanks everybody for the kind words and support. That is very nice.

I will certainly keep everyone updated. Just know that I am not about to do anything overnight as I have a month to month lease so I am not too pressured to do anything immediately. I am just thinking long term - what I might do in the next few months if I find the right boat.

And although I was sad to breakdown that tank, like BlackWhiteYellow above, I have learned from my mistakes and I am quite happy these days. That aquarium was very challenging and as I got better and better at it, I just pushed the envelope a little more. This worked for a while until I had to start going out of town and realized that I had created something that couldn't last on it's own that long. Live and learn. UNDERSTOCK. I thought I already learned that before. I guess sometimes I have to learn things more than once. ::)

On another note, I look forward to seeing your videos soon! I think this is an exciting addition to 3reef.

    Thanks again,

    matt

Hey Matt, first I want to say that video is wonderful and thank you so much for this website. If it wasn't for all the support, help, and advice from everyone here I would have gone nuts during my most resent and present problems. I hear you on how it feels to have your tank go wrong. I am dealing with problems myself and we all have, so airing out the dirty laundry isn't a bad thing, I think it's good cause you can get support from your friends on the forum. I hope the future brings you lots of happiness, take a break and start up again when your ready. Cheers.

Matt, I was wondering did that 70 watt halide cause any heat issues for you? I am trying to figure out what to concider for lighting a 21 inch deep 37 gal. tank with a 20 gal. sump. And was wondering how warm your tank was with that halide.

The tank was fine with that light. I used to have a 150w on that tank and it would heat up the tank quite a bit to the point where I needed a chiller in the summer. But not last year with the 70w fixture. Also with the 70w, I could lower the fixture to just a couple inches above the water. Not the usual 8-10 inches that most do with halides.

@nemo - thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. I am sure it's only a matter of time before I have another reef tank. Just have to get some things in order first. ;)

Hey Matt. Really sorry to hear about this.

I knew you wanted to go with a bigger tank but i never thought you would take down the 20 before you got the other one. But maybe its a good thing, with being out of town a lot.

If you're a little like me you wont last too long without a tank. I went a couple of years without a tank (I tore down a 120gal after loosing close to $1000 of fish) but i still went to my LFS at least once a month just for the fun of it.

I really hope everything works out for you bud.

    Marc.
