ok so i recently posted a thread ( http://www.3reef.com/forums/fish-tank/disappointed-54272.html#post509077 ) read that. am i safe to get coral with my new 20 gallon tank? i took everything from the old tank to the new including liverock, filter, livesand, and even water. there was a mini cycle but nothing big. should i have to still consider the tank as a new one? like one that hasnt matured and it is not safe for any corals or anything? the water is crystal clear and the water perms are perfect. please respond asap because if its a go, im going to purchase some new corals now. i waited a couple days before i put the fish and the coral in. i held them in my dads 40 gal. to the week. the tank is like 13 days old or something (mine).

also on a side note (DONT IGNORE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS TOO):
i have 93 dollars put aside for the tank. i am either going to stack up on some coral or buy 65 watt coralife lighting. i know my lighting isnt enough but can my corals survive and be ok with the lighting i have? i have 2 light fixtures each 26 watt. and one long 15 watt. i would get rid of the 15 and keep the 2 others. which one do you think i should spend my money on? would the more lighting help the tank? a lot? the corals i put in there? also its a 20 gal HIGH not wide.

I say get the lighting, that way when you do put coral in there they will do much better and in the long run make you quite a bit happier with coral that are looking and doing good.

well for your first question, how long was your other tank setup for? and what does "water parameters perfect" mean? what are they? On the next question I would definitely suggest getting a new lighting fixture. You shouldn't have any corals in the tank unless you are ready for them, knowledge wise and materials wise. 52 watts on a 20 is just over 2 watts a gallon which is not much at all, especially for a reef tank. I would suggest you take your time, gather the appropriate equipment and go from there, You will be much happy in the long run and will also save a lot more money.

ok these are my views. 93 bucks is a lot of money and i can either get some cool coral which i have been waiting for for a long time or i can waste all my money on the light and enjoy it in the long run when i get more money. i am stuck between to things. help!!

lighting :) You want to be sure your corals are happy right?

btw, careful with the coralife fixture, ive heard that they tend to get too hot, so make sure you have a cooling fan. I recommend a Nova light fixture; they have great power output and ive had no heat problems. The power they put out is something like twice the amount of wattage is says. great lights :)

My Nova light was 89 dollars (and that was at the LFS) and it supports my anmeone in my 28 gallon. GET THE LIGHTING if you want to keep corals!

well chances are you would be fine adding the new corals, However, given your situation I would not purchase the new corals. It sounds like you want to buy the corals and you want us to tell you that's a good idea. The best thing you can do is ensure your tank will create a good environment for your livestock. You may be able to keep the zoas in your tank and some soft corals. I am still confused if you plan on keeping the 15w fixture on your tank or taking it off. If you leave it, then 67w for you tank is not that bad, you could get away with it, but I would still suggest you upgrade your lighting. It also sounds like you are on a very tight budget.
What corals did you want to buy?
The end choice is up to you, but I would strongly suggest to listen to the advice people give on this forum

guitarman, the 15 watt fixture came with my freshwater tank and it just brings color to the tank instead of the blue lights it makes everything colorful. now i have the 15 watt on there and the 2 26 watts. but in total if i get the new 65 watt, i would have a total of 117 watts. that isnt good? are u kidding? haha. i think it is.

if your still confused, on the tank with the new 65 watt if i get it, i would have the 2 26 watt lights on there, plus the new 65 watt coralife. that creates 117 watts for my tank.
