I've not ever used this brand of pump. Ironically, I heard complaints of Quiet One pumps being loud.

I have a mag drive. People say they are quiet, but I think it's loud too though...

I've never seen that brand before. To be real honest, I have never looked at any pumps other than Mag Drives. When I got into the hobby, a few searches revealed that mag drives are the most reliable for the money, are a bit noisy, and put off a little heat. It was good enough for me, so I bought one and forgot about it.

In another of my threads someone advises that he had one since 09 that his buddy has still running with the original propeller. I though for 35 bucks ir was a great deal

    For $35 keep it.

The first one I had malfunctioned. The one I have now runs fine, it's just kinda noisy.

Some people use rubber pads. I think you can get them at Lowe's and cut them up to the size you need. not sure on the price.

I have a sponge under mine now. I'll need to look into the rubber pad.

If the pump is being run externally, blue board (foam insulation) would be a great noise insulator.

If you can swing the money, like I said, Eheim makes great pumps. Next time I need one, that will probably be what I get. Quiet and built to last. The price is where they get you, but you usually get what you pay for.

These can be run internally or externally. The same goes for bag drives, IIRC.

    Ah, wording is key. ;)

I think they both have their own pros and cons. External takes up more room in your stand. But you don't have the heat generated by the pump, going into your water.
