    i would not go with salinity salt, i had problems with it not mixing well. clouded the bucket and my tank. asked the local store about it he said they had another customer in complaining about the same issues with it. i than switched to tropic marin. mixes clear stays clear every time and very fast.

    I went with red sea pro. I think i will be happy with it. I bought a regular test kit for salt water. What things so I have to test for?

    If it is the master test kit from API you will be able to test for Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. When you first fill your tank and are cycling it, those are the ones you will need to be testing for to monitor the progression of the cycle. After the cycle is done, you can expand your test kits to different things like calcium, alkalinity, phosphate, etc...

    Yup API, alright in set ro start cycling. So no lights and no skimmer when I cycle correct?

    Either my head is crooked, or that hole on the far right is drilled lower than the others. Is there a reason for that?

    Some say no lights and skimmer, some say go for it. I used my lights just to try them out. I bought them on ebay and just wanted to make sure they were working properly before I actually needed them. I didn't run my skimmer until the cycle was over.

    Ta dah! :cheesy: Nice job on the holes. The far right one does look a bit lower. I don't see it as a big deal though.

    I would go no lights, no skimmer during your cycle.
