How much Drain flow can a 1inch pipe handle. Got quite a bit of head now on my return pump and gonna have to upgrade it want to max my flow out without going over what the 1inch drain can handle. Is there some kinda of chart telling you how much your drain will allow as far as water flow

Right now I have a 1.5 inch stand pipe that goes down to one inch what is the max flow that could handle ?

Under absolutely perfect conditions 300gph, if it has no elbows and goes straight to the sump you might approach this. I would say realistically more like 150gph to 200gph.

Well as of right now with the head i have 600gph going up dont think thats quite right. No offence but if it was only taking lets say 200 my tank would be ready to overflow. the stand pipe is still sucking air too so Dont even think im close to that right now.

I believe a 1" pvc pipe can flow up to 600gph if I'm not mistaken.

right now im running 1.5 standpipe with 1inch pipe from bottom of tank to sump 5 inches. With the head I have now im running about 400-500 gph per pump spec sheet. Was gonna upgrade that to 1000 or more gph if I have to turn it down so be it but was just kinda wondering. Right now my stand pipe has a little dribble going over the edge and air in the line under the tank so think it can handle alot more. Plus with the addition of a UV sterilizer on the line that I have it will increase the head quite a bit.

Would rather have more than less if ya know what i mean :) I have a bypass on my pump right now so can just send it back through the pump if its too much going up to the DT

just wanted to add to this just installed a Aquavia 8000 2200gph pump on the system right now the flow up is about 1340gph as per the box and head I have. My standpipe is 1.5 inch 2 feet long below it goes stright down to a 1inch bulkhead into 1.25 inch flex hose. Its taking 1340 gph and not even filling the stand pipe.
