SLR-like camera's aren't ideal. But you could see how clean the images come out.

Shoot in RAW (Gives more leeway in PP and do WB changes easily)
    Tripod.
Use the lowest ISO setting (100, maybe more if needed)
Set your shutter speed to around 2/3 seconds.
And adjust the aperture to how much you want in focus. (& light you have)
I'd recommend using a timer so there is no camera shake. If you have a shutter release, even better.

Obviously all the settings need to be adjusted to suit the conditions/light/subject.

If you want, take a shot, post it and feedback can be given.

    HTH.

Fantastic advice, can't stress the tripod and remote shutter release or timer enough, lowest iso possible if shooting corals. Not sure if your camera allows shooting in raw mode or not.

These are older images, taken with my D40 and before I really learned how to use a camera.

This is a really old image, kinda fun though as it shows off my massive Kenya, check out the measuring tape to see how big it is

    Very nice pics!

I'm going to have to start planning coral placement so I can get good shots of it with the camera lens parallell to the glass.

Any tips for non-macro shots? Like FTS? Mine always come out with the rock/sand looking washed out and it's impossible to tell the colors of anything in the tank.
