Here are some pics of mine, with pics of the sandbed and how it has fared. I just got mine going last Sunday, and no sand has moved since Monday. I am going to move the sand back now that I think I have it adjusted properly. It takes trial & error and time. Also I'm not sure if you already have one but I've heard that buying the magnet attachment is a must, which makes since. Those suction cups that are standard w/ MJ will fail over time and imagine this beast falling to the sand!! DESERT STORM!

Note: Personal preference, but I like a little ripple in my sandbed, looks more natural to me. But this should not be a constant thing, once the ripples are there they shouldn't be constantly moving because of the PH.

I love my maxi jet mod! I have a 75 gallon, set it up along the back of the tank, pointing upwards, I get some pretty awesome surface waves- I wonder if that's what a wavemaker does. But I think it definetly kicks some a$$ in my tank

 

WOW, those maxijet mods look like they are way to strong.

Can you file the impellers down? Or put a toggle switch on the pump?

 

It comes with a second, less powerfull empeller, it puts out 1600 gph instead of 2100. Here are some specs of the mod:

mmmpppf too much, lol, never heard that in this hobby........my mod made my leather twice its previous size.......

 

I have to agree with you. Some people are saying it's too much power but you just have to mess with it alittle bit to get the right placement. It took me about a day to figure out excatly where I liked it without having a cyclone in the tank. I find the best placement is too just point it a little bit upwards towards the surface of the water. And I have another powerhead on top of my maxi with the mod. I run a koralia also. The more flow the better I think. My corals love it and so do my fish, especially my lawnmower blenny!

thanks for the pic's...where did you get the braket to suction it to the glass? Mine didn't come with anything like that.
