Hi there, hope someone can give me advice. Today I bought a maxima clam, climatise it for +/- 60 min before releasing it in my tank. It opened after a few minutes and everything looked well. After about 3 hours it spawned (that is what it looked like). I am now concerned that the "spawning" may not be good for my water parameters.
    Any advice will be appreciated!

It released white "tissue" . Which I believe must be because of stress.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
How does the clam look now?

Could it have been expelling waste?

Now the clam looks just fine, however I do not think it was waste that has been expelled. I have read somewhere else that they some times do this.

Yes they will do a stress related spawn but it looks more cloudy. As long as your parameters are good and nothing looks stressed your probably good.Free fish and invert food.

Congrats on the new clam. :)

Did you roll the clam? Trapped air bubbles can cause issues. I have heard of them doing odd things to try and expel the air from themselves.
