Thoughts on using with a sea swirl? Would the increased pressure put stress on the seal in the SS?

Sea swirls and Ocean motions are both out because of the back pressure.

I forget exactly what happens, but the consensus on both is no.

As with anything, you need to do the math. A closed loop is better than open, but still not as good as in tank flow. And you know nothing is free. So you have the added flow of the eductors, but that is at the expense of a high pressure pump. All the other plumbing is resistance to flow. At the end of it all is more heat and power.

That does not mean that it is not a good solution for what you are doing. You can aim it across the bottom of the tank, perhaps the stream will be better, might be just what you need. Using eductor will certainly be much better than just flow from a bigger pump.

Even still in tank power heads would be much less power and heat. You could hide them, what ever. I would not imagine it would be hard keeping bare bottom clean. Not really a problem... just adding thoughts.

I have debated a lot between all this and just putting in 2 more mp40s... with my 2mp 60s... it would be overkill enough I feel sure.

If you worked a 3 island scape you could have to MP60s on the ends with the 2 MP40's on the back wall in between your islands and get great random flow with the ES mode programming.

I think even after a good bit of growout they would still hit everything well.

I'm very interested in seeing the eductors plumbed (the build) and in action if that scenario comes to fruition...

    This is another guys build.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I decided to do some experimenting to help justify in my mind that this was a worth while change. I did so on my left closed loop which includes a Iwaki 55 pump. What I did was to shoot three photos, each with air injected into the line to help visualize the flow. First, I took a shot with the previous setup of the one inch line that was split to two and then housed two 3/4" locline nozzles on each. Here's the shot of this setup and the flow within the tank caused by them.

Next is a shot of the single one inch line with a simple one inch elbow as the outlet.

Last of all, here's a shot with the Penductor in place at the end of the single one inch line. The increase in flow was nothing short of amazing with it hitting the opposite wall at eight feet away.

You are working on some good stuff but you havn't changed the flow only the velocity. Kinda like putting your thumb on the end of a water hose....same water is coming out just faster:) If you want to change flow increase pipe size larger than pump outlet.

The holes in the back pull water in from the tank and propel it as well. So you are actually increasing flow.
