    Hello all,

I just picked up a 16k 160watt razor for my Mr Aqua 12gal long, I know at this point this light is overkill but I wanted to be able to keep it for future tank upgrades and it is so much more efficient than the t5's I have been running.

Anybody currently using this fixture who wants to share their lighting schedule? I'm currently trying to decide how to program mine and have no ideas just yet. Thank you in advance for sharing!

Wow that's a lot of light for a 12gal.The fixture will change gradually from one setting to the next.I use my blues at 1% overnight for moonlight and have them come up to 45% at 10am.The whites come on an hour later at 50% and the blues increase to 70%.This is just to give you an idea.Like I said, the changes happen gradually so even though the whites are set for 50% at 11am they will come on and begin ramping up before that. Also to keep the blues at 1% overnight I also had to set them at 1% at9am,otherwise they would begin ramping up overnight till they reached their next setting at 10am.Of course you will need to begin with settings much lower due to the size of the tank.

    Hi
I am going to bye one for my red sea max 130d, which one do you recommend more 16k or 10k?

Is it easy to schedule the light?

Thank you sailorguy, so far I have not put it over the tank but have been tinkering with it. I know it has the ability to bleach everything I own so I'll be taking it slow. The tank currently has a 36" 4 bulb t5 over it about 8" off the water. Since I will be hanging this light slightly higher I'm planning on starting the max at 15% to 20% and moving up every over day from there. Does this sound reasonable?

Ralphj: so far I have found that programming the light scheduling is very easy, I am simply trying to get a feel for what schedules others are using to make try and use something that has worked in the past and not have to experiment with ramp up and on/off times. I bought the 16k because I enjoy the slightly bluer look and because if I wanted to do a lower k number with this light that is totally possible with blending the white and blue channels, however you can also go higher as well using more blues to say 20k. This is just what I have noticed while tinkering with it. Just by base color preference I recommend the 16k however if you are able to find an Lfs with both for comparison I found that extremely helpful.

    I run mine 27" 16k
    11 am blues turn on
1230 blues are at 40% whites come on
130 blues go up to 75% whites up to 90%
730 blues go to 70% and whites to 40%
830 blues go to 40% and whites go to 0%
    10:00 blues go to 0%
This is the schedule I run and it gives me a 12-14k look.

I have 3 of them over a 135 and use the 'preset 2" program that comes with the units. Have had for several months and have had so much growth that I will have to start culling several of my corals very soon.

If you have been using a four bulb t5 fixture then your tank is acclimated to a good amount of light.I think starting at 15-20% sounds good, just give it a few days and see how your corals react. If all looks good try turning it up 2-3% every few days and see how it goes.I think that people having problems with the intensity of led happens when they increase them too much and too quickly.I myself noticed bad reactions when I increased the settings by 5% every couple days but increasing by2-3% with a few days between changes has seemed to work well.

Thank you nc208082 I'll have to try that out.

Oldreefer, if your getting that much growth maybe I'll take a look at the preset to utilize some of the timing into my schedule.

Sailorguy, glad to hear that I'm on the right track, I think I'm planning on doing a 1% increase every other day until the corals are happy and I am as well.

Thank you for the replies everybody! I very much appreciate it.
