    Just had the Lfs test my salinity and it was at 1.029. Came home and tested the same water and it was 1.025!

    You can get them on ebay for cheap anyways. Mine was about $23 shipped which isn't any higher than any hydrometers I've seen.

    +1! Always calibrate with 35ppt fluid before testing.

    You could just correct your SG then mark on your hydrometer with a permanent Sharpie where the true 1.025 is. :D

    Even if you mark it, it will be off again after a few uses from salt build up inside of it. I think the only way to go is the refractometer.

    That's why you rinse it in freshwater after each use...

    a refractometer is a must in my opinion!!!!
