so my clown fish, and blenny, are both gasping!

    but the water is perfect!
    8.2 pH
    0.0 ammonia,
    0.0 nitrite
and only a tiny bit of nitrate

    whats going on!
in saying that, he is swimming around happily, eating and being himself... But should i be worried??

or is the clown just clowning around ;)

BAD JOKE. I KNOW ! lol.

how long have you had them and about how old is your tank? My blenny gasped for a while but now he is ok, took like a week for him to stop. My clowns if my nitrates get up around 20ppm they start gasping.

You tank is still fairly new so it could be still going through the cycle, and if they have just been in there for a week and have been eating I would keep a eye on them but sounds like they are still getting acclimated. It took my tank almost 2 months to cycle.

    What is your S.G at?

It could also be too little oxygen in the water. Get some surface agitation.

And if they seem no better or worse I would consider a water change.

Also monitor for Marine Ich as rapid breathing can be associated with infection. It can also be a sign of issues with parameters, I did not see a nitrates level listed.

    Good Luck

i agree with the low oxygen. what size is your tank and how many fish do you have? What do you currently have adding oxygen to your water (skimmer, sump, etc.)?

My clowns will gasp if they get worked up over territorial fights or a crab trying to mess around. See if they are getting stressed out from something. Just another thing to check.
