I'm not sure what actually killed the naso, if I had to guess i would say maybe from being a little overweight if anything. It ate like crazy, and was super active. I feed every type of fish food I can get my hands on rotating day to day, and feed macro from my fuge regularly so I know it wasnt a lack of anything nutrient wise.

Canon rebel xs, with the stock lense. I'm learning as I go how to use it, so far it's all camera and 0 skill on my part....other than earning the arm and leg to buy it. ;)

Well, it's been a crazy month for my system. As a matter of fact it has been the worst series of fish loss I have ever experienced.

First off, I made the mistake of trusting an established and well known fellow reefer when he told me the powder blue tang I purchased was not exposed to the ich in his display("PBT was in separate tank"). I'm not saying the guy intentionally gave me a fish with ich, but I should have followed my own rule and QT'd the fish regardless of the source. The way I look at it, new additions to a tank should be treated the same way you treat a firearm, inspect it and take the appropriate actions EVERY TIME no matter who gives it to you.

As a result of my actions I have lost the following to a monster outbreak of ich. (Keep in mind I have NEVER EVER had an outbreak of ich in my history in reef keeping.)

    Powder Blue Tang
    red stripe anthias
    royal gamma(my 1st or 2nd SW fish ever :( )
    mandarin goby

Out of all this the only good news I have to bring to the table is my bamboo shark egg hatched tonight....so thats a nice bonus! The way I see it, everything happens for a reason. Had I not lost the amount of fish I had, the bio-load from the shark may have been the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. So I like to think there is some positive hidden in this mess. :-/

Sorry about your losses. The last month, I have experience the same thing. I think it may be due to some stray electricity. I bought a grounding probe, waiting for it to come in.

Just to clarify. All fish have ICK. it is an organism that lives naturally within a fish. It is stress or poor water quality that enable the ick to multiply to levels that make the fish sick

Actually, from what I have ever known Ich/Ick only grows inside the fish until it breaks out of the skin and then finds a suitable home somewhere(either in the substrate/plants/or near the gills/fins of the fish) to reproduce inside of a small sack. When the reproduction is complete the ich breaks free and finds a new host.

for all your ich related info needs, I suggest http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ichartmar.htm

nice setup... ah we all go through the ick thing some point or another.

Any more pictures of your marine betta. I had one for a couple years when I lived up north. I finally decided to take the family for vacation and I came back to find him dead. Mother in law was taking care of the fish so not sure what happened as everything else was fine.

When I get my big tank that is going to be one of my first additions.

    I agree 100%.
Sorry for your losses mazilla.......... That sucks.
I wonder if the fact that you don't test water has any thing to do with the outbreak? And I'm also puzzled by the death of the dragonette from the ich. That is a fish that is known to be "unlikely" to perish from external parasites etc.
