OK, I see it now but I'm not sure why that starfish caused you to give up the harlequin? Mine took a week or more to consume an entire starfish but they never let it out of their grasp while they ate. Regardless, I think you'll enjoy the pistol shrimp/goby combination a lot more than you did the harlequins. Much more interesting to watch :)

And no, I don't think it matters if the corals are similar so go for it! :)

:) I didnt want the star to die on me. He DEVOURED the whole leg (except for about 1/8inch) in 4 days....The star was really beaten up, and me being inexperienced as i am I would rather not have my tank crash because I wanted an exotic shrimp.

From everything i've read online, stars are kind of fragile, and I didnt want to test the limits

I hear you. If you ever want to try again, however, you can be rest assured that the star's sensitivity will have little to no impact on your system as it will be entirely consumed while it is still alive. Gruesome ain't it? :)

I kinda figured the thing might kick...the CC star that I had died because the harlequin ate right through its stomach/head :p Good info to know though!

Hmmm...that gives me ideas for keeks1127s tank then! Dont tell her, but for her B-Day i'm getting a custom tank built (20"x20"x?high) and using the 12gal and 10gal she has for a fuge and sump respectively. We have a skimmer already, so she will have close to 50gal of tank volume! I think a harlequin in the main tank w/ a cpl stars in the fuge sounds like a plan.

BTW, do you think itd be mean to keep a false perc in the fuge (itll be 12g)?

Wait....for her birthday, you're getting a tank? Or do you mean that you're getting HER a tank? Either way, I won't tell her but let's hope she doesn't read this thread!

I think that the fuge will be so jam packed full of macro algae that the fish won't have any room to swim and you won't even be able to see it!

Eh, we hate the clown anywho :(

It tried to jump yesterday...landed on the HOB filter then into the 1.5" x 1.5" output for the HOB....She says she wished it had croaked :'(

As for the fuge, her bio-load is LIGHT for that water volume...especially with a skimmer... (1 randall's goby, 1 false perc clown). So probably just some caulerpa and maybe aiptasias like i've read you are fond of ;)

If you don't like the clownfish, see if your local fish store will take it back. Even if you don't get money or store credit for it, at least you won't have to look at it anymore :)
