I read the article and the guy say's the shark came up on him the day before, so the next day he brings his camera to film it. That is really pressing your luck. Predators are quick at pattern recognition....

    Here's what he said.

"the day before I shot this video, i was SUP surfing with a couple friends and 2 sharks circled us for about 15 minutes. the next day, i decided to go back out at around the same time and take my GO PRO HD HERO camera (gopro.com) mounted on a 10 ft pole and do some exploring.
Sure enough within 5 minutes a 9 ft shark came out of no where and circled twice and slapped his tail on my board before disappearing. then a minute later a 7 ft young juvenile Great White swam circles around me for 12 minutes. It was an unreal experience that I will cherish forever."

Whoa. I think that goes beyond 'pushing his luck.' Surfers can be pretty nuts.

That didnt look very far offshore. With a sharks sense of smell anyone surfing nearby would be fair game. Does anyone recognize that power plant? Is it San Onofre(sp?)?

I was thinking he may have been in a boat and holding the camera with the pole he described however he says he was on his board, he's definitely not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree ;D
