I am working on retrofitting a biocube 14 with some leds. Plan is for 6 or 7 blue and 6 or 7 white leds each with their own driver. I am looking at the ELN 30-24D or 27D and the ELN 60-27D. Will I be ok with the 30 watt drivers vs 60 watt ones. I know they put out less current at the same voltage as the 60 drivers but if this is the only difference I should be ok since the LED's I am using will probably be run around 600 ma. I can get them quite a bit cheaper and saving $$ is good

I would get the ELN 30-48D, the 60-48 is too much forward voltage for your LEDs, 6-7 will be about 18-21v, and the 30-48 maxes out at 24 (12-24v), the 60-48 at 24-48v, a little too much, which can burn your LEDs, aside from not powering them up to protect its self. I would run them around 700ma, if they are XP-Es, or 1200ma, if they are XT-Es/XP-Gs, in which case, you would need the 60-48D to run them that high.

Also, you are in kinda a gray area with the 60-48Ds, if you run the XT-Es low enough, then you will have too much forward voltage, so I cast my vote to the 30-48D, and you can run them at 700ma max

I'm actually looking at the 27d ones which max out at 27 volts and start at lower voltage so I should be able to run a smaller amount of leds with no problem

5*6=30, 5*7=35v, so not, it will not work at 1.2-1.3amps

What do you mean by the 5x6 and 5x7? Where are you getting those numbers. I understand the 6 and 7 is number of leds but don't know what the 5 is? They are 3 watt leds so 6x3.2v = 19.2 and 7x3.2= 22.4v

I guess I should have stated first that the LEDs are 3 watt LEDs with 3.2-3.6V and 750ma. Sorry for any confusion

What series crees are you using? At 1.3 amps, XT-Es, and XP-Gs, are in fact 5 watt LEDs, at 5 forward volts

I'm not using cree. I am using bridgelux which are 3 watt and 3.2 V. So being run at 600 ma should just put me over 2 watt. I spoke to the guys at rapid led and they said the ELN-30-24D would be fine for what I am planning to do
