What instrument do you use to measure the different levels?
All I have is a simple test strip that you compare the individual coloured boxes with to make sure they are in a safe zone. No concrete numbers there. Any suggestions on what to use?

Im sorry to say, but those strips are garbage and a waste of money. There are a number of brands out there that you can buy, from the cheapest to down right expensive. Here are some; Redsea, Seachem, Salifert, Elos, LaMotte and API. I personaly use API and Salifert, but have heard good things about the rest. It boils down to what your wallet says. Luna

I use API and Salifert as well. I am converting over to Salifert though ASAP. I just did my first testing tonight using Salifert and I cannot believe the accuracy. In terms of ammonia and nitrites, API is fine, but for NO3, Ca, Mg, ALK (if they make one), PO4 and I, I would go Salifert. If you are running just a FO, NH4, NO2 and NO3 is all you'll need. If you have snails, or anything that depends on shell growth, I would get Ca. If you run corals, you will need them all. And Luna is right. Salifert is expensive. It depends on your pocketbook. I got them at a reasonable price from Tangster....one of 3reef's sponsors.

EDIT: Whatever you do, get rid of the strips. They suck.

Just as I figured. Was basically using them to test for nitrates to make sure they weren't too high. But, I definitely am looking to find something to test with more accuracy. I will check out Salifert and API. Thanks!
