for a steel frame that can hold 2 tons with minimal deflection what dimension and gauge should be used for a stand that is 60"x36"x 30" high? i.e. top/bottom frame with center brace 1.5" x 3" @ .025" , four corners 1.5" x 1.5" @ .025" , vertical support 1.5" x 3" @ .025" centered on the long side. thanks in advance.

Does 2 tons include a safety factor?

With steel it doesn't take much to get the load bearing you will probably need.

Google engineers toolbox, and start from there.
