I have two of the TLF reactors, currently i run carbon in one and phosgaurd in the other. as I work on the upgrade form 55 to 120 im debating switching to seagel and purigen, since as i understand it sea gel is carbon and phosgaurd together. anyone have any positive/negative experiences with either sea gel or purigen. what i have now is working well but i am wondering if it could be better

I have postive experience with Purigen, been using it on all 3 of my tanks
started using it on the 5ft when Nitrates where at 10ppm and it zero'd them for me and they have risen to 2.5ppm once and that was just an undication the Purigen was due for regeneration

I have used it on the 5ft for over 8 months now, regenerated twice and its still maintaining my nitrates at 0 ( NB Im using twice the recomended amount for the volume of water so it goes longer between regenerations)

Phosgaurd - I have used it and didnt have a negative experience with it, I had softies and leathers, toadies etc and did not percieve any negative reaction from them whilst using it But I am aware other people have experienced negative reactions from mainly leather corals which was attributed to the use of Phosgaurd

so with that in mind I swapped out the Phosgaurd for GFO which is the iron based alternative for phosphate removal - which I have never seen any negative feedback on
