I have been reading a lot of different posts about this method and that for maintaining algae in a tank. My question is in regards to adding a media reactor to my sump. I believe it might be a good option for me, but what media is the best for fighting algae? I have seen Phos-ban mentioned several times. Any suggestions? Or what are you using in your reactor if you have one???

When I ran media through my filter it was carbon but now I just run micron sponges that filter fine particles out.

I use 2 reactors. In one is a 1/2 of a cup of Seachem. MatrixCarbon that is changed or rinsed every 2-3 weeks. In the other is 1/2 cup GFO Granular Ferric Oxide to reduce phosphates which fuel some algae. I change this out as needed.

I just got a dual reactor from Bulk Reef Supply and purchased their carbon and gfo. After lots of research I think that was one of the better options, at least for me.

You're going to want carbon, as well, if you don't have somewhere to put it currently.
