    lmao:cheesy:

well im up for meditation.. i dont do it much but it is very relaxing. when my fishtank doesnt take the stress off, i do a bit of meditation and im all relaxed.

i also think we are overmedicated... I honestly hate to take medicine.. I will only take it if im overly sick and i just need it. If not, a chicken noodle soup and a nap does it for me. Just like our fish.. If they arent stressed, then they are healthy for the most part.

stress is the main cause of illness i believe.. it lowers your inmune system.
being relaxed and chill is the best preventative for illness.... well most of them:cheesy:

I do not hardly even take an asprin for a headache.....If I do get one I go into relax mode I guess you could call it meditation....it lowers my blood preasure to the point where the headache goes away.....most headaches are like a mini blood pressure spike in my book

If meditation can relieve stress, and stress is the leading cause of death in US, meditation sounds like a pretty viable option to me.
I just went through 1-1/2+ years of being sick for the first time in my life and "doctors" couldn't diagnose my problem. I've taken a good handful of different meds to no avail. A HIDA scan is a scan that watches/records activity in the gall bladder to check for proper function. Ack! a horrible test. An IV(of course) and you are told to sit motionless for 2 hours:eek:. Anyways, they found some abnormal activity and almost yanked it out.
Long story short I turned to holistic medicine, acupuncture specifically, and have been rocking ever since. My first visit to see an acupuncturist, during palpation, he said "Wow, you really have some stuff going on with your gall bladder and liver :bulb2:(doc's did a bunch of tests on my liver and found something minor)

I'm a firm believer in the power of acupuncture as I'm very sensitive to the treatment and have some very interesting experiences on the gourney :hehe:...
If anyone is interested in learning more about the bodies meridian system and/ Chi, Ki yada yada ooh e ooh aha, ding dang walla walla bing bang, let me know
My case is so unique that I have been invited to the college to do a presentation, and I am allotted extra time for my treatments with the doc.

if your talkin something serious, like cancer or another condition, I would probly listen to doctors who specialize and deal with it every day. my grandfather was convinced he could cure his cancer with holistic medicine. he didnt succeed. my wife was cured with chemo. I also think theres something to be said about soliciting advice on the interweb..

i have no experience with meditation. but i saw acupuncture mentioned by mission. i do have experience with that. not me personally, but my son was 14 , he was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.long story short , all medical treatments he didnt respond to. acupuncture worked wonders. my wife a month ago was diagnosed with a rather large fibrous tumor. she went the whole medical route, and they wanted to operate. she went to see the acupuncturist , and has been taking treatments. the tumor has shrunk by 75%.

sorry, i didnt mean to hijack the thread. but thought id throw out my experiences with alternative medicine\treatments
