    Well the female finally came out today and started socializing, so heres some pics!

    this afternoon he started displaying to her and protecting her from the mean red coris:

    blackraven, I will try and get a pic of the male under less blue lights so you can see his true coloration...

    I am getting one of these this weekend.... im so stoked. any tips for acclimation? it is going into my 180 with the tang police a pink spot goby and a onyx clown. 2" or so sand bed with lots of open space.

    be very gentle with them obviously... I always like to acclimate my wrasses in the morning while they are asleep because when my lights come on and they awake they are generally less stressed out. no need to drip acclimate, just temp acclimate and then throw them in being careful not to expose them to light which will likely wake them.
    I have noticed that males take to a new tank better (both in sixlines and in the haliocoris genus). both of my melanurus are extremely sociable, active, and accustomed to me being at the tank already. They are both model citizens and very peaceful. My male watched my red coris smash some snails one day and decided to try it also... apparently he wasnt too interested in it though because he hasnt done it since that day though.

    On the day i added them, my male did not hide at all and my female hid for one day. I have heard of them hiding for up to a week though (a flasher wrasse of mine hid for 3 weeks upon acclimation once). They all readily accepted all frozen and even most flake/pellet foods.

    they shouldnt bother or be bothered by their tank mates
