I saw a picture of this fish in someone's reef tank. I didn't realize that this wrasse is considered reef safe. They kinda look like a Lunar Wrasse to me but I guess they are more peaceful? .. Anyway has anyone had experience with this fish and would it be suited for a 40 gallon reef tank..

    My stats are..
    40 gallon tank
10 gallon sump/fuge chaeto and rock rubble for pods to grow
50-60 lbs live rock and 40 lbs live sand

    Flame angel
    Cleaner wrasse
    Midas blenny
    2 clowns
    mandarin
    ywg / pistol combo
    fire shrimp
    porcelain crabs
    emerald crab
    pom pom crab

various sps lps and zoas / pallys

Would this wrasse get along with my other fish.. and would the two wrasses in the tank deplete the copepods soo much that there wouldnt be any left for the mandarin even if I am culturing them in separate jars?

Edit: forgot to add that the cleaner wrasse I have is pellet trained

They're reef safe in the sense that they won't go after corals. There's a chance of them going after snails and feather dusters, though.

liveaquaria has the minimum tank size as 50 gal. You will need a lid because they will jump and a sand bed because they sleep and hide in the sand. Like Blackraven said, they won't bother your corals but will eat any small crustacean, worm or snail it can reach. I would definitely be concerned for the pod population.

They'll really only eat snails that are already flipped over IME.

I wouldn't get it; tank seems pretty well stocked as is. Besides, you don't want your mandarin starving to death; IMO it seems like a very horrible experience, seeing your mandarin just starve away until you see his bones.
