Melanurus Wrasse

yup i love them, both the melaanurus and flash would stand out soooo much in my tank both would be nice active fish

 

i think females have a black spot on there tail, males dont

 

Yep, I read that too.

 

supposedly the coloring gets bolder as they get older too. my LFS has one thats 4-5 inches, the coloring is really nice.

 

so other than that their exactly the same,

because the place that im looking that only has females in the small size or medium for male i usually dont like females as they are usually more dull in color but if the black spot is the only difference i dont mind getting the female

Forget medications that can harm or damage your delicate motile invertebrates! The Melanurus Wrasse will consume flatworms and you will see the difference within a matter of a couple of days. Once the flatworms are gone you have an attractive, friendly fish that will readily adjust to a captive diet and frequent the water column with activity. There are definate differences in the sexes as the female has a spot on it's tail and the male lacks that spot.

 

the have small females sizes 1-1'5 or the medium males 1.5-3.5 im leaning more towards male i think

The Hoeven's Wrasse is also referred to as the Tail Spot Wrasse, the Yellow-lined Wrasse, the Orange-tipped Rainbowfish, the Tailspot Wrasse, and the Pinstriped Wrasse. The body of this fish is blue-green in color and has pink or yellow stripes running horizontally across its sides. The color of the juvenile is more muted.

 

I think either sex is fine! I think the spot is kind of pretty though!
