She's a beauty.... When I bought mine the LFS was having a light issue. So when I got home with it, it only had one eye.. lol.. It's truly amazing how these things can adapt to live a normal life...

good to hear :) my green wrasse did the same thing. and now every night about fifteen minutes to a half hour before lights go out it disappears. seen the sand dust cloud once when it went into the sand, so went to the tank and inspected were it went. odd how you cant even tell they are there.

I thought the males didn't have a spot on the caudal fin...?

It looks more like the juvenile/female colors to me, TBH. The orange vs reddish, and the much darker blue, is what's catching me up, I suppose.

I always thought the males were darker but more vibrant, like that top one you showed. I've only ever seen 2 melanurus in person, both around the color of mine, under similar lights to my tank.

well then if thats the case, yours might be female... does it have a spot on the caudal fin and the dorsal fin or just on the caudal?

If you look at my picture before, you can see a very slight change in color where a spot would be, but it's not really like "YO HERE'S A SPOT!!!! CHECK ME OUT!!!!" like the pic you posted on the female. The male you posted as that same slight discoloration in that area.
