So i've pretty much decided on a stocking list for my tank, except for the wrasse, i love both of these two wrasse fish, but they both have a big difference in price. i would be willing to spend the $150 on the mystery but is the fish really worth it when the melenurus is only $30. I've also heard of the mystery being semi-aggressive, which i'm looking for a peacful tank. so that's why i'm not to sure on the mystery.

So here's what i've decided on a stocking list:

    1 false clownfish
    1 royal gamma
    1 catalina goby
    either melenurus or mystery wrasse

    I need help deciding

I vote Melenurus. IMO they look almost as good as Mystery Wrasses at less than half the price.

Wrasse are easy fish, can't really go wrong. But to be honest, if your new - it's hard to justify tht kind of bucks for a fish....but it's your wallet young lady.

If your ok to flic the bill for the Mystery go for it - he's hardy and will should well for you. but as you mentiioned, he's a bit of a bully. he might not get along with what you listed above tho....aggressive.

If I'm going to pay big bucks for a wrasse, I want one that isn't hiding half of the time.

In my experience melanurus wrasse all seem to get aggressive far more than the mystery. They also get larger... I've seen them close to half a foot... They also tend to eat dwarf crabs if you don't mind that.
But like Inwall stated is the price worth it on the mystery? If it was me I would pay the big $$ for a Lineatus before a mystery!

i'm hoping for the wrasse to be the "star" of the tank, the Lineatus is beautiful but for $250! that's how much my skimmer was
