Was going to order some filter socks today to place in my sump but theres mesh and felt to chose from? Theres also 100micron at marine depot & 200micron at brs? What would be my better option here?

Reef or FOWLR? If reef I say forget the sock because you are only stripping suspended particulate (coral food) from the water.

But in any case when I used them in the beginning I found that felt or mesh didn't matter, they both worked and washed up equally as well as the other. The 100 micron will catch smaller particles but will clog up and need changing 2x as fast or faster than the 200.

I would keep a couple around for when you stir up a lot of sand or blow a lot of detritus around. But I never suggest people run them 24/7.

I like the mesh better. But that's all personal preference. I just feel like they were easier to work with.

Noted.. I was leaning towards the mesh anyway. I'll pick one up to try out, just to see if it could help or hinder on my setup.

I currently run the 25 micron filter pads for my filter. They work like a champ. I have 4 sets for my filter. I change them every 2 or so weeks. Really cheap also.

I bought 2 yrds of white felt from jo-ann fabric, sewn up my own socks. Made about 15 for the price of one you would buy online. Just my .02
