I accidentally bought a mh pc combo light system from an individual and I messed up on the measurement of my tank. It is a 55 gallon tank 20 inches deep and 12 inches in width. The light fixture is the right length 48 inches but the width is 15 inches. Is there any way to make this work so that I dont have part of the fixture hanging over the front of the tank? I am open to any idea because I cannot return it and I am kinda stuck now!

It might be a sign that you should upgrade to a 75 or 90 gallon

It will cause algea to grow more quickly on your front and back glass, so you'll need to clean it with the mag float every day or every other day.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. I have had both the 75 and 90....they have the same footprint (48x18) and that fixture would work well. Did you end up with a 6x54W T5 array?

No the OP said it was a MH/PC combo setup.

The only other thing I could think of is that if it is indeed a 6x54W, you could load up the first four bulbs and leave the other two without. A 4x54W would be enough for a 55g

So I will still get good color due to the actinic bulbs, they wont actually hang over the back? Do you think that I can make it work!
