metal halide buying help

    ok i have a chance to buy a new 72" 3x 400w with 2 vho side mounts for 250 ,to use on my 150 mixed is that a good or is it to much light ,i could remove one of the lights as each one has it own driver ,thanks john

    I say it sounds like a good deal to me.Keep in mind you will need to light aclimate your corals.This much light is also going to drive up electric bills and tank temps.Just keep an eye on temp and don't worry about electric bills-just part of doing business.

    I knew somone that put 3 400watt Mh on a 180gal same size realy as yours other than 18inch wide it was 24inch.. And lets say that was a lot of light but also was running 10k's.. Not sure what K rating your looking but.. But non-the-less.. If you do get them going to hafta slowly acclimate them to the new lights.. On top of whats posted above keep in mind with tank temp along with evaporation will lower tank levels over time.. ANd of course energy consumption will the ole electric bill...

    I am sure there's better ideas other than mine.. Me personaly i would jump on it.. Only cause the cost of Brand new outa the box lights will cost much more..
