I have a 140 gallon round tank and from the center column to the outside of the tank is approximately 18". I am looking to get one 250mh pendant to hang over the center column and if needed I have two 48" fixtures with 4 65w pcs that I can hang on each side of the column to supply additional light. My question is how much surface area does a mh bulb cover? Like I said it's an 18" width all the way around in a round tank. Would the one halide bulb over the center cover the whole tank?

Being a cylinder tank which is deeper (assumed) I would recommend a 400w MH to reach the bottom instead. Or an Orphek LED or the like. You could use panorama led modulesor T5s as a supplement of blue instead of PC.

yeah it is only like 21" deep maybe. But with or without the lid how much area does a mh light cover? Like a foot in each direction or what?

alright guys I have a new question for you. looking around my house I found a 175w mh ballast and a 400w mh ballast. I have a 250w pendant. Is there any combination that I could use so I don't have to spend any more on another ballast or pendant. Like putting a 400w bulb in the 250 pendant with the 400w ballast? Or running the 250w bulb in the pendant through the 400w ballast?

Wow. Don't do the last idea. That won't work out well. But I am not sure about running the 400w bulb w/ 400w ballast.that would be fine. But I am not sure about a 250w pendant.

in that case then does anyone know what ballasts can run a PFO pendant? I know PFO went out of business so if I had a pendant from them what brand of ballast could I use to run power to the pendant?
