I am using this with brine shrimp to treat the ich in my reef. Since only new fish seem to get ich in my tank I am trying to prevent it. They either get the ich and die or don't get it at all. This is the first thing I have tried. Is this ok to use in my reef? Some of my poylps are catching the brine shrimp already treated with the meds will they die?

You would be beter off by using this medication as a dip or in a quarantine tank, NOT in your main tank as medications will affect beneficial livestock, whether it be bacteria, sessile inverts, polychaete worms, corals and possibly healthy fish!!!!

It says it is easily filtered out by carbon. I have a fluval 205 and a ehiem ecco 45 with chemipure, that I run all the time. I witnessed numerous polyps taking in brine shrimp with the meds all over them. Nothing seemed to happen. My LFS uses it with all his fish to prevent parasites. And addes it to his large tub type tanks with coral to feed his fish in there. I don't know what else to do. I am having so many problems with fish. Me next step is going to be to stop buying fish. I would never use something that is a large direct dose to the tank, even if it is reef safe.

You could as probably a safer alternative slowly lower the salinity of your tank to 1.010 and leave it there for a few days till the ich has taken its course. One this has happened, you can gradually raise the salinity to your desired level again!!! This will kill ich as well.
    Good luck!

This medication will not prevent ich but it will protect your fish from secondary infections as a result of the ich. That being said, I have very often in the past soaked food in antibiotics to treat a sick fish with absolutely no detrimental affects in my reef tanks. The only thing I would do differently is soak mysis shrimp in the meds instead of brine as brine shrimp have practicaly no nutritional value where mysis shrimp does.
