MH..10k or 13k, what's the diff???

    Hello Birdlady & Hottie,

    Again, this is something that everyone goes through that has either added MH lighting or has changed over to MH lighting only. Additional fans will help greatly. But there is something else we also have to keep in mind, water evaporation! Not only the additional heat from the MH lights, but the extra fans will create more of this. You will more likely find yourself doing more "tank top-offs" more now also. This time of year the heat may not get so bad, but wait till summer! Fish don't mind a "gradual" change of temperature, it's the "drastic" change that really stresses them.

    yeah i know even with my PC lights my tanks temp went up to like 81 so i had to use my fan and i even used ice packs.

    My covered MH light is about 3 to 4 inches off the water.....

    birdlady how do u keep your tank cool. Do u use a chiller or AC. that's pretty close to the surface. what wattage do u use. I bet it's bright though.
