Mh asap needed

Please describe to me exactly whats supposed to happen when you fire up a mh bulb for the first time. I saw web sites referred to it as burning it but it looks like somethings on fire in the bulb moving around and after like a minute it smelled like something was burning so i turned it off.

Sorry, im a noob with MH so i dont know if my house is going to catch on fire or if thats supposed to happen.

 

Doesn't sound right. I would take it back where you got it.

 

theres like a little blob of something now on the bulb. I ordered a sps bulb from marinedept and its going to be here the 25th. do you think its the bulb or the fixture?

 

But so what happened when you fired up your mh for the first time?

 

To help a little more with the description, it was like a ball of multicolored stuff moving around as the bulb got brighter and brighter.

 

Did you get the right watt bulb for the fixture you have? What bulb did you get (brand and Kelvin rating)? What fixture do you have?

 

Well i just got the whole pennant in the mail, its the bulb that came with it. Yes, its the right wattage. Its an oddysea bulb. It looks like theres a little glass pimple on the bulb now.

First time start up ..nothing unusual. Take a few seconds for Halides to warm up. Then a few minutes later are usually full brightness.

 

but its ok that theres like glass pimples (2)?
